2011 Brooke Veterans Park Foundation - Fundraising Kickoff
The 2011 fundraising kickoff was a tremendous success, bringing out the top leaders in business and local government. The foundation was excited to recieve a $15,000.00 dollar donation from Chesapeake Energy.
Main Street has also demonstrated it's unwavering support of the memorial with a $10,000.00 check and a special donation/loan program whereby donors can take out a loan at 1% interest or simply make a pledge for a specific amount and pay it over time. Nate Stone, a Chesapeake Engineer, was the keynote speaker for the luncheon. Nate served four deployments in Iraq so he was no stranger to the stresses of military service and the benefits it brings to our country and the wider world. He reminded those in attendance of our need to free ourselves from our dependence on foreign oil and sees the work of Chesapeake solving that problem.
